CMJ: countermovement jump
The CMJ is used to assess lower-body neuromuscular capabilities. When a system records flight time, jump height can be estimated from ballistic motion.
Height (m) = g × flight time² / 8
Jump height is sensitive to measurement method and technique. For session-to-session comparisons, keep the protocol and device consistent.
About the power estimate
Sayers et al. (1999) derived a peak-power equation from jump height and body mass. Applying it to CMJ is an estimate and is not equivalent to directly measuring power with a force platform.
