Average speed is not the same as maximum speed: a sprint includes acceleration and, depending on distance, may also include a maximal-speed or deceleration phase.

Average speed vs maximum speed

This tool divides total distance by total time. It is useful for converting sprint times into a comparable speed measure, but it does not identify peak speed reached during the sprint.
