ATHLOMETRY does not assign universal labels such as “beginner” or “elite” because standards depend on the exercise, technique, population, sex, age and competitive context.

What is relative strength?

Absolute strength describes how much load you can move. Relative strength adjusts that load for body mass, which is useful when comparing athletes of different sizes or tracking your own strength-to-weight relationship.

Relative strength = 1RM (kg) ÷ body mass (kg)

A ratio of 1.50 means the 1RM equals one and a half times body mass.
